How do you improve the employee experience at scale with a headless CMS? By making the intranet feel instant and effortless. Credit Agricole Bank Polska revamped its intranet - moving from a legacy setup to a modern, headless approach with Flotiq as the content backbone. The result: faster access to information, smoother editorial work, and a foundation ready for growth. We outline the journey, the key decisions, and what changed for employees and editors - step by step.
The site's responsiveness improved significantly, with the site being fully ready for user interactions in 1.5 seconds max - 3.4x faster than before.
Peak handling capacity reached 100k pageviews in a single day, demonstrating the new system's robustness.
Zero critical errors in the 4-week hypercare period - quality gates, monitoring, and runbooks ensured the system was production-ready from day one, not just at handover.
Credit Agricole Bank Polska (CABP) is a modern, people-centred bank, employing 4200 people in Poland. The organization is a part of the Crédit Agricole Group. CABP transitioned from a WordPress-based intranet CMS to Flotiq Headless CMS. The migration reduced error rates, enhanced user experiences, and improved performance, with site responsiveness improving by 70% (3.4x faster). The reduction in critical errors underscores the dependability of the new system, and since adopting a Next.js-based application integrated with Flotiq, CABP has observed measurable improvements in system reliability and user experiences. Managing internal communications and content at this scale requires a single, centrally governed system - one source of truth accessible to all teams, yet fully controlled by central IT.

Delivering timely and reliable information to customers is crucial - but the same goes for employees! While organizations worldwide recognize that their client-facing websites and applications must be of high quality, very often the employee-facing part - their intranet - is overlooked. Credit Agricole Bank Polska recognized an opportunity to enhance their intranet, as their existing WordPress-based content management system (CMS) was no longer fully meeting their evolving needs. While functional, it faced challenges with performance, scalability, and an inefficient update process.
To address these challenges and remove bottlenecks, Credit Agricole Bank Polska chose to migrate to a proven, enterprise-ready solution - Flotiq Headless CMS. Given their strict data security policy, the Client’s Team chose to use a dedicated, on-premise instance of Flotiq. This was not merely a technical preference - it was a deliberate architectural decision. Flotiq's ability to deploy in SaaS, private cloud, or on-premise environments meant the team could align the system with CABP's data residency requirements, internal security policies, and procurement constraints from day one, without the risk of having to replatform later. This case study explores the journey of this migration, detailing the challenges that the Client faced, the solutions we implemented, and the impressive results that we were able to achieve. At the time of the migration, a team at Credit Agricole Bank Polska was working on a solution that would seamlessly integrate their intranet data with other internal systems and applications. Thanks to the personalized API provided by Flotiq, the integration process was streamlined, allowing for efficient data retrieval and smooth connectivity with the client’s existing solutions. This positioned Flotiq not just as a CMS, but as a central content and data layer - a single platform connecting teams, systems, and workflows across the organization. Instead of maintaining multiple disconnected tools, CABP gained one unified foundation that could evolve alongside their internal architecture Since implementing Flotiq, Credit Agricole Bank Polska has increased user experience, streamlined content management processes, and enhanced online performance metrics. Read on to explore how a headless CMS can effectively support your company intranet.
CABP encountered a number of challenges with their existing intranet content management system (CMS) that was based on WordPress. The key problems included poor performance measurements, such as high Time to First Byte (TTFB) of 3.5 seconds and a Time to Interact of 5.1 seconds. These metrics represent the most significant problems as they don’t meet the current standards.

Moreover, with the previous system, it was difficult for CABP to scale. When subject to peak loads, the system would often crash. The editorial and development teams found the process of system updates to consume too much of their time and work, with the uploading of new versions taking up to several weeks to complete successfully.
High Time to First Byte (TTFB) of 3.5 seconds and Time to Interact of 5.1 seconds - resulting in poor user experience. This meant that the page loaded for a long time (over 3 seconds).
Updating the system took a long time and required much workload, with new version uploads taking up to several weeks to complete.
The old system wasn’t scalable enough and occasionally experienced issues during peak loads.
The intranet needed some refreshing - both from the performance and design perspectives.
Credit Agricole Bank Polska chose to migrate to a dedicated solution that included Flotiq Headless CMS to allow for more flexibility, better performance, and ease of integration. Rather than building a custom content backend from scratch - a process that typically consumes months of development time and introduces significant architectural risk - the team adopted Flotiq as a proven, production-ready content engine. This allowed them to focus immediately on business logic and frontend delivery, instead of reinventing foundational infrastructure. To address the needs of CABP's team, we created a tailor-made solution that would keep all the benefits of the previous CMS: intuitive, easy use for content editors, while improving the metrics that didn't meet requirements.
Since Flotiq is developed by CodeWave's engineers, the team can easily build products that go beyond the standard offering and address custom needs of enterprise clients. The new intranet was built on Next.js - a React framework supporting static page development and server-side rendering - with Flotiq as an out-of-the-box solution providing flexibility and editorial ease of use. The headless architecture also introduced a clear separation between the frontend presentation layer and the content backend - meaning future changes to the user interface could be made safely, without risking the stability of the underlying data and business logic. For a banking environment where system reliability is non-negotiable, this decoupling was not a technical nicety, but a core risk mitigation strategy.

The transition involved migrating existing content and optimizing web performance. Flotiq's efficient caching mechanism translated into substantially lowered loading times, enabling a quick and consistent user experience across all platforms. With just a few clicks, Flotiq's automated updating procedure significantly improved overall operating efficiency.

TTFB cut by 86% (7x faster) - now 0.5s
TTI cut by 70% (3.4x faster) - now 1.5s
peak of 100k daily pageviews handled easily
The migration was a huge task that involved moving a base of 30,000 articles to the new platform. Though it might seem like a gruesome task, it was in fact automated to a large extent - and this type of automated migration is available for all large-scale projects transitioning to Flotiq. It’s worth mentioning that the results of this strategic move were quite impressive!
At the end of 2023 bank Credit Agricole effectively integrated the Flotiq Content Management System within its intranet. The platform offers a standardized method for accessing content and serves as the foundation for an all-encompassing intranet search engine that gathers information from various sources. Since the implementation, we have seen a significant improvement in performance metrics. Thanks to Flotiq’s scalability, we can enjoy our service accessed by a few thousands of employees without the risk of the system crashing.
Flotiq is a modern content management system that stands out for its exceptional performance, flexibility and scalability. Its headless architecture enables seamless integration with various platforms, ensuring a consistent and optimized user experience. With Flotiq, organizations can achieve significant improvements in web performance metrics, streamline content management processes and easily scale to handle peak loads. All within a single, unified platform that connects content, data and workflows across teams. Its efficient caching mechanism and automated update process significantly reduce deployment times and enhance operational efficiency. For organizations operating in regulated environments - such as banking and finance - Flotiq's ability to deploy on-premise, enforce governance at the API level, and decouple frontend evolution from backend stability makes it not just a content tool, but a strategic infrastructure decision.
The migration to Flotiq enabled Credit Agricole Bank Polska to meet, and in some cases exceed their expectations for their intranet system. Improved performance metrics, enhanced user experience, and streamlined content management processes have strengthened CABP's internal communication capabilities. This project underscores the importance of selecting a robust and flexible CMS to address the evolving demands of the digital landscape. For organizations operating in regulated environments - where compliance, auditability and architectural stability are non-negotiable - the choice of content infrastructure goes far beyond technology. It is a decision that shapes how teams work, how systems scale and how confidently an organization can grow.
